OutsideWise ("the app", "we") is a weather and outdoor-conditions app published by Palau Technologies. We built it to be useful without collecting personal data. This policy explains what the app uses and why.
What the app uses
- Location. With your permission, the app reads your device location (or a city you choose) to fetch local weather and air-quality data. Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo only to retrieve those conditions. We do not store your location on our servers or link it to your identity.
- Anonymous usage analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g. which screens and features), so we can improve it. This is anonymous, app-level data — no name, email or account.
- Crash diagnostics. We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to receive anonymous crash reports so we can fix bugs.
- On-device preferences. Your chosen profile, location and reminder settings are stored locally on your device.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No advertising and no cross-app/website tracking (no IDFA).
Third-party services
- Open-Meteo — weather and air-quality data source.
- Google Firebase — analytics and crash reporting.
Notifications
If you opt in, the app schedules a daily local reminder for your best outdoor window. These are generated on your device; you can turn them off anytime in the app or in iOS Settings.
Your choices
You can disable location and notifications for OutsideWise at any time in iOS Settings. Scores are friendly guidance, not medical or safety advice.
Children
OutsideWise is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
